This fast-growing native tree can reach heights of about 40 feet. River birch is very tolerant of wet soil, but not standing water making them perfect for that area of your yard that is seasonally wet or saturated after rain falls. They boast a rounded upright shape with a beautiful yellow fall leave. Their bark peals way the salmon colored exfoliates to reveal an inner lighter bark. River Birtch is also tolerant of acid, clay soils and road salt, but requires more sun than shade. (BCNW)
