This native evergreen tree reaches heights of 70 feet and about a 35-foot spread. Grows best in evenly moist, acidic, organic, rich, and well drained soils in part shade to sun. Does not tolerate saturated soil or prolonged drought. Strongly windswept areas and air polluted areas should be avoided. Canadian Hemlock can grow 12- 24 inches a year in favorable conditions. (BGN)
